Join us online on Monday, September 8, 2025, for our Family Empowerment Series training "What Does This Document Mean? Prior Written Notice, Consent Forms, and More in Special Education."

In this session, we will explain many of the different forms and documentation you may encounter in Special Education and the reasoning behind all of that paperwork!

We will cover important topics such as

  • Paperwork (types of support plans, evaluations and assessments, and documents related to parent and guardian rights),
  • Prior Written Notice (also known as PWN, and its importance),
  • Consent Forms (when might the school need your consent and how to give it or revoke it), and
  • Resources (tips and tricks to staying organized and on top of the paperwork).

Want to study up early? Check out our office's YouTube page featuring a series of six dynamic videos on Special Education in DC! All videos are available in English and Spanish with open captioning. Visit our page on YouTube: youtube.com/@DCSpecialEducationHub/playlists for all 12 videos!

Attending our Family Empowerment Series is a great opportunity for caregivers to receive information and ask questions about how best to support their students with disabilities. Don't let this fantastic opportunity pass you by! We can't wait to see you there!
